The Senator representing Senate District 51 is Senator is Jim Carlson –
Sen. Jim Carlson served in the Minnesota State Senate from 2006 to 2010. He was re-elected in 2012 for another term.
Jim grew up on a farm in Eagan and graduated from Rosemount High School. He and his wife Gayle have lived in Eagan since 1975. Their children, Lindsay and David, both graduated from Eagan High School. Jim earned his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Degree at the University of Minnesota and worked in manufacturing management positions at both Ecolab and 3M. He has extensive business experience, including budgeting, negotiating, and strategic planning.
House District 51A is represented by Representative Sandra Masin –
Rep. Sandy Masin is an Eagan resident. She was elected to the House in 2006 and distinguished herself in House sessions for her leadership and compassion. She helped lead the way to dedicate funds for transportation infrastructure, maintaining and improving roads and bridges and in the process created real jobs for Minnesotans. She sponsored a bill that created the Ultra High-Speed Broadband Task Force. She carried a bill to bring back strategic and long range planning so policy is based on long term goals.
House District 51B is represented by Representative Laurie Halverson –
Rep. Halverson is an Eagan resident where she has served since 2006 as a member of the Eagan Advisory Parks and Recreation Commission and a director for the Eagan Foundation, Inc.
Halverson graduated from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MN with a degree in Political Science and attended the Master of Public Affairs program at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota. She worked at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota in Eagan, leading initiatives to engage citizens in improving health care policy. Her volunteer activities include teaching Sunday School, the League of Women Voters of Minnesota and the Citizens League. Halverson was raised in the Chisago Lakes Area of Minnesota.
